Using 8 unconnected pictures

Pictures : Trees,  sun, icecream, box, ring, fish, girl and boy (in one picture) river
Strategy: Pictures to elicit a story (Brinda Nanavaty’s kit)
Location: Elias Meyer Boys’ School.
Date: July, 2016

“The red bicycle” Picture no .   UKG little boy called                  Roy.
The picture is of a boy cycling. His mother is standing at the door of the house with her hand up.   Everyone so far adults and children had interpreted tis picture as the mother saing bye bye to the boy as he pedals away.   There have been only two people so far (in 6 years of using this picture sequence extensively) who have interpreted the Mother’s action (her hand up) as “Cycle slowly (dhirey chalao”. One was the      roy of the Upper KG and the other was a very senior Special Educator of 30 odd years with A Master’s from Purdue University. The latter also had the advantage of  seeing the following pictures before she ade her comment – that of the boy falling down and the mother appearing angry.

Little              had a different take on the picture from all other children and some adults who have seen the pictures.
